Show Up and Succeed: The Power of Leaning into Your Community

For those who know me, it's no secret that I love to write. However, I'm not an avid writer; I need my creative juices to flow when I write - or rather, I write more from the heart than the mind. So here I am today, writing my first blog for Homepreneurs Club, wondering why I haven't done this before. Well! Better late than never. 

At the Homepreneurs club, I spend a lot of time getting to know our members, connecting with them, building my relationship with them, understanding their businesses and facilitating the right connections. The Homepreneurs Club is a community of and for women. Our members are business owners both newcomers and seasoned pros, women who have the passion to do things, women who are in the ideation phase of their business, professional women who want to expand and build their network etc..,  

During my interactions, many club members share with me that just by being part of the community, they've gained numerous opportunities which helped them grow. To which I strongly agree because I can't deny the countless opportunities, I've received by being part of the club. Sometimes I wonder if I would have had access to such opportunities had I not been part of a community like Homepreneurs Club. More than anything else, as someone who majored in Tech, being part of the community helped me acquire knowledge on how different businesses function and work, with real, hands-on experience.  

A lot of what I have today is because of the connections I've made and the community we built. I’ve gained amazing friends who feel like family, and when I think about it, I realize that so much of this is because of the community. I met them all through it. 

Wait, that’s not all, there is one more incredible woman in our community who's seriously nailing it when it comes to building relationships. Meet Rita Jivani, Founder of Purple Swan Skin Care. Rita is one of our most inspiring yet humble, resilient entrepreneurs. She takes time to selflessly mentor and guide members within the Homepreneurs Club. 

Rita recently received her first entrepreneurial award with Tallymena as an E-preneur Icon for MSME. Here is a loud cheer and congratulations to Rita for that.

We are proud to see her grow over the years and here is to more! 

My point today is to cultivate your community. So many opportunities our members or I have had – be it learning, growing, making friends, or gaining new ideas - have come from recommendations of members and meeting people. Many times, I've been able to pass on opportunities that I couldn't commit to the members of our community, recommend them for it, and help them reap the benefits. It’s just not that, I've also noticed that the people who attend the events, participate in virtual networking, and help others in the Facebook group are usually the ones who are quick to rise. 

Put yourself out there, as uncomfortable as it may be, because you never know, you might find one of your best friends there or an opportunity that will lead to another and maybe more of it that will change the trajectory of your life.
